I don't understand the Facebook algorithm.
I've heard some things that may be true, such as a post with a photo is likely to get eyes on it (often stated in the post as something like "photo added for algorithm") and I know if I search for someone I then start to see more of their posts and if I comment or like something frequently, it seems to show me ALL their posts. But every so often Facebook chooses to show me something that I am surprised I caught, but it makes me happy. Today was one of those moments. Today I saw the idea of a "glimmer."
The use of "glimmer" in this context is that it is the opposite of a trigger, meaning it's something that catches your attention and turns it to good. It's possible that the idea of "triggering" or a "trigger" is over-used right now (a discussion for another time), but it is quite true that there are somethings that catch us and for whatever reason turn our thoughts and/or emotions down a negative spiral. So, the idea of a glimmer is to recognize the images, words, actions, songs, food, touch, objects, people, and more that for whatever reason turn our thoughts and/or emotions up a positive spiral. Then, just as we might avoid things that are triggering, we can try to seek things that are glimmering. And wouldn't it be nice to have more glimmer and light in our days?
